A Much Needed Strategy – Balochistan Nutrition Behavior Change Communication (BCC) Strategy
Social & Behavioral Change Communication (SBCC) is one of the important component of Balochsitan Nutrition Program for Mothers & Children to pursued the community for adoption of healthy behaviors regarding nutrition of pregnant, lactating woman, adolescent girls, infants and young children.
Therefore, a Social & Behavioral Change Communication (SBCC) strategy is essential in addressing important health and nutrition issues. This allows for harmonization of priorities, approaches and messages among the relevant organizations and stakeholders.
The nutrition situation in the Balochistan province as depicted by the various surveys and studies reflect the nutrition related malpractices and non-behaviors adopted and practiced throughout the province. Most of the nutrition indicators are lagging behind when compared with other provinces or with the national figures. The situation calls for the implementation of proven large scale nutrition interventions along with the effective implementation of the Balochistan nutrition SBCC strategy.
Catering the needs a comprehensive Social & Behavioral Change Communication (SBCC) strategy is designed to enhance individual behaviors and household practices, help collective actions in communities, improve the provision of nutrition advising services and the demand for these services, and above all to supplement the overall enabling environment for good nutrition outcomes.
Since the initial version of the strategy lacks evidence therefore the experiences and evidences from the initial BCC implementation (2017-18) would lay the basis for the strategy for the succeeding phase (beyond 2018).
