Procurement of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) & Iron Folic Acid (IFA) Tablets
“When mothers are anemic, they give birth to malnourished children and the cycle continues”
Despite decades of concentrated efforts Diarrhea and Iron Deficiency anemia continue to claim lives of hundreds and thousands of mothers and children. The prevalence of diarrhea is highest among children 6-11 months while anemia affects almost two thirds of pregnant women and is a primary contributor low birth-weight.
Whether children suffering from diarrhea or the anemic mothers both states cause concern among the family members as well as the health authorities.
Through the Balochistan Nutrition Program for Mothers & Children (BNPMC) the focused districts are being provided with supplies and medicines that are being used to treat and prevent malnutrition among women and children.
The program has procured ORS and IFA tablets that would further be provided to the focused 7 districts based on the total required quantities (total target population).
